Entry 209; Day 495

Something peculiar is going on, undoubtedly. And there's more than enough proof of it in some Network posts, but as to what precisely has happened, I'm not sure.

There are relatively few people affected by this, and the results seem to be fairly similar from what I've gathered in video posts and photographs on the Network.

Lord Ciel, I think I know your secret.

Somehow, I rather doubt that it's a curse, though. The relatively few people affected coupled with a fairly specific situation, shall we call it, make it seem less like a curse than something else.

Moreover, there was clearly a curse yesterday. I was missed by that one, though I've been struck by it before. As I recall, it was rather interesting. I can't say I was enlightened by the answers I received, but they were interesting answers, nonetheless. And I am already one for asking questions, so how different or difficult was that sort of curse.

Perhaps that's why I was missed by it this time.

As for this latest turn of events, is it possible for something like a curse to happen without there being a curse? Yes, I am quite aware of there being both magic and science in this place, much as I dislike that particular combination. And between those I know that nearly anything is possible.

And to have something happen so soon after a curse makes me slightly suspicious. Granted, we have had times when we had curses for three days in a row. I suppose we shall see at midnight whether it's a curse or something else.

Unless, of course, someone has had some insight into what's happened and would care to explain? I'm only curious. As I said, it's in my nature to ask questions. And there are more than a few who can attest to that.

Regarding a different matter entirely: Rosette, whatever came of your situation with your dog?

[Private to Opera House Residents || Unhackable]
Since it's been decided we need to prepare ourselves, I'm going to begin gathering supplies when I can, so long as the curses don't prevent me. I can't gather everything myself--I couldn't afford it, for one thing--so I request your help with both purchasing and transporting everything we need. I don't intend to purchase peculiar amounts of food or water; just a bit whenever I go out, so I can build it up slowly and not draw too much attention to it. If someone gets the idea that we're trying to prepare for something, they may hurry up with bring that something on us.

I'll also see about setting up a locked place to keep everything in down near the basements, and two keys to open it. It won't be so different from any other larder, I suppose, save that it's locked up more like a butler's pantry.

I'm sure I can count on your help.

The first of it, the worst of it I hope, is over now, and I'm glad. Megumi, I can never repay you. You are the one who has suffered this time. How can I undo what he's done? Does my hearing it through your power pay in some part for what you had to endure? I can never thank you enough nor repay you for what you've done. You should never have had to do it. You knew you didn't have to, and yet you did.

We can finish him now. I am sure of it. It shall be revenge for all of us.

[ooc: Have been feeling ill all day, so if I'm slow or drop tags, I'm really sorry. I'll catch them, I promise. Godchild crew is still logging stuff, so I can't get into things until they, uh, actually happen ah ha ha ha (You know I love you guys, right, Megumama-mun? Alexis-mun?). And hopefully what's struck out is...accurate...will ret-con if necessary, but since it's struck, it's moot. I am also doing a f-list purge, slowly adding back journals, because I realized I had a helluvalot of really, really old journals still friended--only because I didn't know to unfriend them. So bear with me if you get notices that I've added you and you're like, "Duh?"]

Are we thinking of the same thing here? This is so freaky...

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. What are you thinking of?

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's putting it a bit bluntly but, yes, that's what I'd observed in some Network posts.

This one's weird even for the City.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Although it has happened in the City before, there is something odd about it.

Are you affected by it?

[identity profile] lightnovelsftw.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
...I should stop being surprised by that statement.

No. I just looked at the Network and wondered when it had become pornographic.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
We're both fortunate, then. Although it doesn't seem like all that many people have been affected by it this time, which is somewhat odd.

It's not so bad as all that, surely. I've not seen all that much that's been questionable.

[identity profile] phantom-earl.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
First you define these afflictions as 'curses,'and now you're actually questioning whether or not ...certain occurrences are curses ?!

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
The City is so unpredictable, isn't it Lord Ciel?

[identity profile] phantom-earl.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Either that, or you are purposely feeding me misleading information.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Lord Ciel. I assure you that you do not occupy such a central place in my thoughts that I would do something like that.

Can we have a bomb shelter?

I'd always thought the basement rooms might serve for that. They've done well before.

The only insight I can properly give, Mr Hargreaves, is that this possibly could be Watari-san's doing. And if it is, he will see his end very soon.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
It does indeed seem to be something Mr Watari would delight in, given what I know of him.

[identity profile] kageseii.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
The only discrepancy is that, while Tsuzuki-san believed it was the cheesecake he ate, I didn't have any.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Did you eat something else that might have been tainted?

No, I can't say that I did taste it.

Cain I'm joking! You really didn't think I'd feed you my dog did you?

Rosette, in this City, one can never be too careful nor too suspicious.
