Entry 131; Day 293

[Filtered from (Known) DELILAH Members || Unhackable]
I had far too many other things I wished to write about today, but they've all been shot to hell with this news, damn it all--this is not the post I wanted to write--

For those of you who've not yet heard, Doctor Jezebel Disraeli has returned to the City. I should have known that once the boy turned up again, the doctor would soon follow. Where one is, so is the other. How familiar-- I had hoped he would never return, but the City adores misery, so how fitting that it would being him back. The shock and panic that struck me when I saw his post--it's taken me this long to calm myself and write this entry--

I urge the residents of the Opera Abandoned in particular to be cautious of him and, above all, please don't tell him that Merry, Suzette, and I are living here. Still more reason to consider moving out of the opera house. Most of you recall him, I should hope, as I was given enough trouble from him before. However, judging from his first Network post, he doesn't seem to recall his previous time here. Perhaps we can use that to our advantage, though I'm sure he's already been told I'm here. It's a new game between us, then, given this fortunate amnesia.

At least this time he doesn't seem to be hiding behind his 'Ancel Allen' mask, pretending to be the absent-minded doctor. No one would mistake him for that given this most recent post and the venom therein.

Merry, Suzette, please be especially cautious. Merry, I know I needn't say a thing to you about Dr. Disraeli, as you know all too well about him. Our days of freedom seem to be behind us now, more than ever. Things will have to go back to more like they were when we were in London.

But, Suzette, Dr. Disraeli is my half-brother, and an impossibly dangerous man. He's the one who desecrated your body, stole your ring, and created that monster from your finger-- If he hears of your being here, and if he thinks that harming you would harm me, believe me that he wouldn't hesitate to strike you. Since I know my father knows about you, it can't be long before he will know about you. I urge you to be cautious of him.

For Suzette and others who've never encountered him: he is perhaps in his early twenties, tall, taller than me, with pale blue eyes and long ash-blond hair. Often wears pince nez eyeglasses and more often than not also wears a doctor's white coat. If you're familiar with Mr. Soubi Agatsuma here in the City, the two look strikingly similar, save that the doctor's smiles are far colder and rarely would he ever jest or joke. They'd best recognize him this time--I recall what happened before with Lailis--

Mr. Crehador, surely you remember our 'good doctor'. I saw that you spoke to him, and you left the conversation unlocked. Of course you would self-described free-agent or not--.

We were so comfortable until now, so carefree, even with Father in the City, but it seems as though the players and their matters are beginning to assemble--very well then, Father, Doctor, 'Suzette'--

~C.

[ooc: Brotherly looooooove. You know you want to add him. Anti-DELILAH filter does not include Megumi Yamamura or "Suzette" since Cain thinks Megumi is involved but not a member, and Mikaela is using a different journal signature. He probably blocked Mikaela's old journal, though. Rawr having to fake that he trusts "Suzette" ;_; Run with it. Rock on.]

He's only a frog sometimes, and honestly I don't think he's quite as niftyl with the sword when he's in that form. His name's Ambrose, or Flycatcher, he and Blue used to share my spare room.

I see. I've not met him, so that would be why I've never heard of the City's only frog with a sword. He sounds rather like the Frog Prince in some respects.

'Used to' being the operative phrase there, since Blue and the Corinthian have their own flat now.

He does a little, huh.

I know. Ditched for Cori, I might never get over it. He says it's a great place though, not even in one of the main buildings. Those benefit checks they get must've been for a whole lot more than I thought.

I rather hope you will. It is; it's a perfectly splendid place, though too modern for my tastes--I've seen it--and I'm sure they'll be content there.

And if I told you those benefit checks were being supplemented, what would you say to that?

I'd say huh, complain for a while about how nightmares get benefits and single moms don't even get discounts on folic acid, and then I'd wonder how you knew, and notice how you said you'd been there.

And then I'd look at you funny.

And suppose I told you that I was the supplement to those benefit cheques?

I'd look at you funnier. Are you?

I am. Whether regrettably or not, I am, inescapably, their supplement to their benefit cheques.

It was my part of a bargain I made, so I was bound to keep my word.

God I hope I don't mean that literally.

Fortunately you do not mean it literally. I had some trouble with a certain young lady, and he offered to try and shake her off me--for a price.

The attempt didn't quite render the result I'd hoped for, but I was still bound to uphold my end of the bargain. He promised neither to kill me nor to run me into the poorhouse, and so I'm paying his lease--their lease--for six months. It's my name on the contract.

It was a bit of a nasty trick stringing me along and leading me to the very apartment like he did, too.

I hope you won't let word of this get around.

He's a nightmare, nasty tricks are the MO. Being fleeced out've a few month's rent probably equates to getting off easy.

What happened with the girl in the end?

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Far less than I wanted, but I refused to let her be killed. That would have only made matters worse.

She was scared for all of one night with nightmares, and nothing changed. She still kept after me as determined as ever. It's gotten worse since then--

I absolutely agree that paying rent is far better than what might have happened. Besides, Blue looked overjoyed at the prospect.

It's hard to ever feel bad about making Blue smile. Cori's not as bad as he seems, I'm not even sure he's as bad as he thinks he is, not anymore.

Have you tried calling her bluff?

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't seem to bad around Blue, but that makes more than a little sense.

I believe I'm doing that presently. It's not quite working as I'd planned, but I'm constructing a new plan.

...You'd be surprised.

Give her a terrible pet name and use it in public. Nothing makes me ditch a guy faster.

Hah! I'm not sure that would work with this one, but I'm almost willing to try.
