Entry 426; Day 615

So I had something of a thought last night, in between extensive studying and certain attendance at club meetings, of course. I managed a moment or two last night to think, if you can believe that at all.

So, I thought, given all this debate about running for class president or student body president and so on. I really shouldn't run for it. For all that I've laughed about going into politics, I don't think I've the real drive for it or the skill for it. The idea is amusing, but what could I do in such a place? There has to be someone better suited than I to run for such an office.

The person elected class president ought to want the position, want to use it to its fullest extent while in office, and ought to use having been class president for better and greater things thereafter. Obviously, it's going to take someone far superior to me for all this.

And, as I thought about it, I realised that there's only one person who could fill that role, someone with the strength, devotion, and honesty that such a position as class president would require. There's someone who seems so devoted to the idea of class president, and so very determined to find someone well-suited for the role, and so, that it struck me late last night: I ought to nominate her for the position. I think she'd do very well in it.

Therefore, I nominate Lucy Pevensie for class president at Ohtori Academy.

And, if you refuse, I'm going to insist. Or I'll at least insist that you run for vice-president. Then you can really be the power behind the throne. I still won't run for president, though. I don't think I could run for anything at all.

So, Lucy Pevensie for Class President!

Now that that's out of the way:

Even if I don't run for office in the student government, I might still have a bright career in the law.

Apparently I'm supposed to read a book that's not on the syllabus tonight, and I'd rather not do it, thanks. I suppose that's the 'advanced' in 'advanced placement'. Apparently it's full of themes like aging and fear, mortality and morality. Can't I choose what I'd rather read?

Merry, how's recruiting for your club going? Have you a meeting tonight or does that start later? In other words, am I coming to collect you this afternoon or should I just wait for you at home?

Rosella, was today the day that you had a moment or two of free time? I told you before that I'd like to see you. I hope we still can--see one another, I mean. Maybe we could have a coffee too and look at each other over those. I'd rather like that.

And to whoever brought it up yesterday, I keep finding myself thinking of 'burning heaven and dousing hell' today. It's rather like 'Paradise Lost' isn't it? 'Make a Hell out of Heaven and a Heaven out of Hell.' Though it's not quite the same. I suppose it's just the image I keep thinking of. It is rather interesting. I'd rather read the rest of that than some other book.

I think I might be, just a bit. It can be a little tedious, but I find I like some of it more than I realised at first.
