[Attached to a Gift Delivered to the Warehouse || Off-Network]
Princess Rosella,

I hope that it will not seem too forward, but I should like for you to have this, as a token of the friendship and, dare I say, affection that seems to exist between us.

Yours very sincerely,
Cain Hargreaves

[Private to Merry and Riff || Moderately Hackable]
Merry, Riff, I hope you'll take notice of a token I've left each of you in your rooms.

I don't mean to be so ostentatious and make a public notice of these things, but I wanted to leave you each such a token. And for no particular reason besides that, really. We're as far from Christmas and birthdays as I think one can be before coming back to them again. But, Merry, I bring you gifts as often as not, I know, so perhaps this isn't so different from that. Still, I wanted to give these things to you--as I said, as tokens.

Anyway, I hope you'll accept them.

There has rarely been a day like this when I've been so busy sending out messages and having packages taken around the City. I suppose it's not so busy as Christmas, but it does rather have that same sense. It does, however, seem to be the done thing today, after I received a handful of parcels myself. Perhaps it's some holiday I've never heard of--and I know there are more than a few of those in my world. I've found myself celebrating any number of holidays I should have never expected to celebrate otherwise, and I suppose this is perhaps another one. I'll call it a curse, but it does seem rather benign.

I am, however, a little disconcerted after a young lady in the cafe handed me one of the light bulbs from one of the lamps in the cafe. She was clearly very deliberate in her gesture, I could tell that much, but we'd hardly met, and certainly it wasn't under the sort of circumstances that would prompt such a display--after all, I am the owner of the cafe and she was someone come in to the cafe, so shouldn't I be the one to offer things to her? And this is all to say nothing of how very forward it all was, ignoring the rest of the situation. But, still, what could I do but accept her gift? She seemed rather touched that I did at all. I know I've a reputation--I suppose she just caught me by surprise, that's all. I can't believe that I really accepted it either. But, I did, and I suppose we'll have to see what comes of it.

If she should start trailing after me, I shall have to let her down gently.

Unless--perhaps she thought that my bringing her more cream was a gesture itself, and she responded in kind. That might explain the light in her eyes. But she's quite gone now, and I doubt I could have asked her at the time. Well, I've still got the light bulb, either way. And hopefully she won't come trailing after me. That really can grow quite tedious.

I think I've finished with the last of the parcels I mean to send, unless something else should arrive at my doorstep and I should be compelled to answer in kind.

I will say that these sorts of parcels are far better than some that have arrived at the opera house's door in the past. I'll take a curse like this over the other like things that have transpired here.

[ooc: Links are not IC--they're just for information and lols. He kind of raided the props closets and kitchens and maybe some hidden drawer in some spare room. Who knows. Anyway, he's cursed. Duh. Also, Cain's on pretty good terms with a number of people, so if it would make sense for him to have sent a ridiculous gift, please do assume that he did--likely in keeping with this sort of theme (chess pieces, silverware, one card from a normal deck, a tea cup, a single glass, the frame of a hand mirror--the sort of things that might kick around in an opera props closet or turn up in a very strange estate sale).]
