I don't especially feel a need to make a list, but I think I've been quite good this year. I've not been perfect, but I'd be surprised if anyone has ever really been perfect. I still think, though, that I have been about as good as anyone, and perhaps better than usual. After all, if there's no temptation, there's no risk. And with the complete lack of real occasions here, real Society ordeals, I've no trouble to get into in the first place. So perhaps I've only been good by default. I can't truly misbehave if there's no occasion in which to misbehave. And that is rather disappointing.

I almost think I'd rather not be good, if only because it's more entertaining.

Merry, meanwhile, I think has been quite good and it's quite time to start finding her Christmas presents. Given the curses and everything else, it does one well to start quite early with this sort of thing, I've found.

As for Merry, I've more than a few ideas, but I wondered if she'd let slip anything to you that she hadn't let slip to me. She might say straight out, or she might hint. She might say something to you that she won't to me or to me that she won't to you. And even if she does say straight out, I do like to surprise her all the same. So I may get to use a few of my ideas anyway.

Either way, we'll have to find the very best hiding places for them once we've got them. She is my sister. She may very well find them before Christmas, but I suppose she'll have spoilt her own surprise if she does that.

I would ask for a bit of help with a gift for Princess Rosella, but I think I have that well in hand. That leaves the rest of the opera house, and a handful of others.

Riff, I think we've a few errands to run. And this evening wouldn't be such a wretched time to do them, since this is a mild curse, so far as curses go. Certainly it's far less tedious than the Christmas carols of a few days ago. Truth be told, perhaps this curse is even a bit enlightening about a few people. It's a curse with a type, so to speak: perhaps it's agonizing for the ones whose secrets are spilled across the Network, but it's quite interesting and, indeed, even informative for the rest of us. It's like gossip, and I don't know of many people in the City who don't like gossip.

Given the snow, Riff, I think I'll need my topcoat tonight. I've rather missed wearing it. And I think I've even rather missed the snow.

I remember it snowed one year at midsummer, when there was meant to be a play going on--'A Midsummer Night's Dream', as I recall, which made it all the more hilarious, somehow. But there was more to that snow than one supposed. Because, for all that it was snowing as hard as I've ever seen, there were still other curses going on--beyond the snow, I mean. There was an infestation of insects, as I recall--perhaps left over from Adrastus's last visit--and the general idea was that the snow was meant to kill them, and the curses were to go on as they always do. I should try to remember what it was that brought out so many insects.

Truth be told, I've any number of peculiar recollections tied to the City's strange snows, both those in the winter and in the summer.

Snow in the summer has very nearly become an annual event, but it pales in comparison to a proper winter snow like this. I do like it when the opera house is dim even at noon and the snow shadows all the windows. It's quiet and feels all day like evening. Despite its being white, its shadow is black. The corridors are gray and muffled, it seems more 'abandoned' than ever here. And I think I rather like it.

And we've certainly more than enough snow well enough before Christmas to satisfy me.

[ooc: Is he nice? Is he naughty? He'll never tell. And it's complicated anyway >>;; (I mean, it's nice that he set things right for a young lady in love, but was murder really necessary? It's all just Angel of Death stuff, really.) It doesn't matter, really, since he's not affected. Meanwhile! Commence Christmas scheming...]
