It's all quite over now--save for the curses today. I shouldn't be surprised that we're all cursed as soon as the trouble is over. There's never any rest here.

I stood in the square last night and saw the sheep being herded and dragged in--I dragged in my fair share too. If only because one of those 'deities' had said that destroying the sheep was the only way to save the City, to save anyone at all. And I think I rather believed her--but with good reason, since all five of them were in the Square doing exactly the same as the rest of us. How could one doubt after that? And Riff was mad with fever, and I'd only just locked him in the basement by his own request, to keep him and the rest of us safe, and no doctor seemed to know quite what to do once the fever took hold. I had to do something, even if that meant dragging sheep carcasses to the square.

I saw the Carousel split and divide, and the hole beneath it open up in the Square. I've never seen the like of that before, for as long as I've been here. The Carousel is what drew me into the City the first time. It's always been there, spinning over the Clock.

I'd almost like to think that the sheep that were thrown into that hole were ground to pieces by the Clock. Their fleece, when it came shooting out of the mountain--volcano, perhaps, rather--certainly suggested that. It did look like snow. We'll be picking wool out of the corners for weeks. I'm sure all the birds will have woolen nests.

So it's over, I suppose.

Truth be told, it was rather like the time the 'Stewards' invaded and we thought the 'deities' had abandoned us. By the end of it, we were, odd as it sounds, fighting for the City, if only because it was the better situation than what the 'Stewards' would do.

I think that was what happened here again. We fought for the City, much as we hate it, because we would rather not die.

Or perhaps we were fighting for one another.

It's strange how that follows.

And now, here we are cursed again, despite all our troubles and our help.

[Private || Unhackable] )

All the same, everyone is well, I hope? As well as one can be, since it seems that no sooner are we done with one trouble, but another falls on top of us.

I'm almost glad to see these familiar curses again, if I'm to see a curse at all.

If we're not to get any rest, at least these are curses we know, and not mad sheep and their equally mad shepherdess.

[ooc: Because I have a wicked penchant for irony, Cain is affected by Out Damn Spot today. He has blood well up past his elbows and perhaps even spattered on his face--never mind that most...well, some of his killings were as bloodless as poison allows. No sooner did he see the carousel open, the sheep tumble in, and the volcano burp wool, but he ran back to the opera house to see to Riff. It was after he tried to clean off the sheep blood that he realized some of it--a lot of it--wasn't coming off...]
