Entry 152; Day 351
Apr. 18th, 2008 11:31 am[Filtered from DELILAH & Known Allies || Unhackable]
I've wanted for several days to say something regarding the shipwreck most of the City endured, but there is little I can say. It was horrid enough for me to listen helplessly to your cries and screams on the Network, and I know it was a hundred times worse for anyone who was actually there. There was nothing I could do. I know I was fortunate to have been missed by that one. It was as bad as the plague and the witch hunts, easily. Perhaps we won't have such trouble again for some time.
But there's still an unusual amount of small trouble on the Network today: one or two things here and there. Nothing especially blatant, but it seems troublesome for those who have to endure it. I'm not sure what the pattern is yet, but there must be one. It's entirely too many misfortunes for it to be--it isn't as though we have 'ordinary' days here, but it's too many misfortunes for it to be a day without a curse.
I've heard of hair that refuses to be tamed, confusion, mechanical problems and Network device problems, flight (for one who has it) beign slowed--perhaps the most dramatic one was of a creature changing size, from large to small.
But it isn't as though they're all the same. It's not a clear situation of an inversion of size, nor is it a straightforward opposites day. It's as though everyone has just enough trouble to keep them back.
I seem unaffected by it so far. Nothing seems to be going wrong today.Nothing of that sort, at least--the doubts and concerns are still very much with me-- So far, at least, since I know it may yet make itself known to me. I may find my collection has been tampered with-- These all seem like troubling problems, but not so greatly troubling that one is kept from doing things. Most things, at least.
It's just a spate of entanglements, or of restraints, if that word makes sense. It's as though there were hindrances placed in people's paths today. Arguably, if this affects supernatural powers as well, it might level the playing field for us mere mortals surrounded by such strange abilities as we ordinarily are. Perhaps I should enjoy it, if that's the case. An odd sort of curse indeed, if it is a curse at all.
I should like to ask the Opera Abandoned at large one thing: does anyone who now lives here in the opera house smoke? I know we've some new residents, and I keep faintly smelling tobacco smoke in the halls from time to time. And given the odd times I smell it, I think it must be someone who lives here rather than a visitor. I admit to some concern for fires, but I'm more perplexed by its sudden presence than anything.
Mr. Crehador, if I could speak to you privately, if you'll deign to speak to me after your ordeal earlier this week. It is a matter of some importance.

[ooc: Mmm burnout monster ate me. He's not affected by the curse today, but he's puzzled by those who are. Smoke is from Tower!Riff--Riff-mun mentioned it OOCly before, and I thought I'd play with it a bit. He wants to talk to you, Cre-Cre, about the stuff he found out from Megumi Y.]
