Merry, don't be afraid. I know you saw what happened yesterday, and you may very well have seen the building itself collapse, but don't be afraid. I don't yet know what's going on, but it's going to be all right, I promise. It may yet be proved to be some sort of curse. If anything more happens, Saya has offered us shelter in her warehouse if we need it. Whatever happens, you know I'll be with you and I'll protect you. Don't bother with lessons and stay nearby me for today. I'm almost tempted to ask you to ask your cards what they have to say about this and what's coming next--

There is no way to contain my anxiety astonishment at what has happened: a building itself has exploded. Not burned, not brought down in a collapse, but exploded. And we, so close, but unharmed, here in the Opera House. I saw it all: the light, like lightning but a thousand times more powerful and enduring than lightning, the building itself bursting with flames, shattering--but contained, as though a glass were set around it, so only the 'deity' offices were destroyed, interestingly enough.

This is nothing like a curse or even like the fires that raged through the City some weeks ago. Midnight has come and gone and the building is still in ruins. Are we to celebrate in the streets now that we see the devastation has lasted past midnight? We've been liberated from our oppressors.

And yet the atmosphere itself seems oppressive now.

Half the posts on the Network are some variation on 'something is coming' or 'this is only the beginning'. 'The Weaving shudders' does it? So what today, then? Another building? Will this lightning destroy the City building by building? I think perhaps it must have been a shot from a massive cannon--a 'lightning cannon'. So, then, who fired it? And what of us?

And damn it all, why are there so many more questions than there are answers? Everyone standing about looking at one another, asking the same things over and over.

Autor, did you find anything out when you went to inspect the ruins yesterday?

There's talk that the 'deities' weren't inside when it happened, but I've only seen such an assertion once on the Network. I've seen far more assertions that this must be the end of the 'deities', the death of the gods, the City's own Götterdämmerung, if you will.

Interesting that there've been vague calls for revolution from time to time, or encouragments to storm the offices and take control of the City.

Does this mean we're indebted to the ones who destroyed their building? That would be a strange and heavy debt.

Does this mean the clock will wind down, and the end of all worlds will be upon us?

'Apocalypse', I've learned recently, comes from the Greek for 'unveiling'. How fitting.

Have you any thoughts or plans regarding what we should do if danger threatens us further? Are there are any plans in place should we need to evacuate or hide? If there aren't, we ought to consider creating some.

[ooc: Posted before noon, so he hasn't seen the pretties yet. Merry-mun, drop me a line (or I'll drop you one) so I can get an idea of what you might like to do with the plot and all~]
